Through our preventive services, we offer a broad range of direct, intensive, and comprehensive social services to help families overcome challenges and learn ways to become self-reliant and self-sufficient in order to avoid the disruption of their families.  With the intervention of preventive services, families learn effective parenting skills and ways to develop nurturing and safe environments for their children.  Families that utilize our preventive services are able to function better, advocate for themselves, and solve their own problems.  Youths who receive our preventive services develop a positive sense of self and improve upon their social and interpersonal skill.  In addition, youth in our program are able to focus on their education, and as a result complete high school, enter college, and transition smoothly into adulthood.

We also help parents whose children are in foster care to develop the parenting and family management skills necessary to have their children returned to them, reducing the likelihood of return to foster care.
 
All services are provided in a family-centered, community-based, compassionate, environment that is also culturally and linguistically responsive to the needs of the families we serve.  We are fortunate to have case workers who are competent, experienced, effective, and committed to helping families solve problems, overcome challenges, and access and negotiate community resources.

Through our preventive services, we help to stabilize families and prevent over 300 children and youth in central Brooklyn annually from being placed in or re-entering the foster care system.
