Pantry Partners

New York City Coalition Against Hunger

  • Food Stamps Outreach Project

The Food Stamps Outreach project offers resources and assistance to soup kitchens and food pantries to encourage their customers to apply for food stamps and other nutrition benefits.

Through the Food Stamps Outreach Project, CDSC received a computer, software, and training to conduct food stamps eligibility pre-screening. Contact us if you would like to be screened.

  • AmeriCorp*VISTA

Though our partnership with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger AmeriCorp*VISTA program, CDSC received a VISTA volunteer to work for one year developing our emergency food pantry to become a self-sustainable operation.  Our volunteer will develop a client-tracking database, assist with maintaining our website, increase funding, manage volunteers, and perform community outreach.

Brooklyn Alliance of Community Services

Brooklyn Alliance of Community Services (BACS) is a network of food pantries, soup kitchens, and community development organizations in the Bedford Stuyvesant, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, and Crown Heights areas. The network is an initiative of the New York City Coalition Against Hunger.

The purpose of BACS is to connect members to a variety of resources, including technical assistance, volunteer recruitment, program development, grant writing, various workshops, as well as access to a collective voice in the community.  BACS is comprised of community leaders, church leaders, emergency food coordinators, social service providers, and emergency food operations.

CDSC is a founding member of BACS.

Green Guerillas

We work with Green Guerillas to increase the utilization of green space and nearby community gardens for the purpose of urban agriculture.  We receive donated harvests of fresh vegetables and work to increase garden membership by linking struggling gardens with our pantry customers.  Through this partnership, we seek to provide community members with the knowledge and means to start growing their own food.
