Training Requirements 

Each registered family childcare provider, licensed group family childcare and their assistants, and school-age childcare program staff is required to complete at least 15 hours of training during the first six months of registration and at least 30 hours of training during each registration period.  This training must include each of the following topics:

Code 1.   Principles of early childhood development

Code 2.   Safety and security procedures, including communication between parents and                  staff

Code 3.   Child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention

Code 4.   Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care and child abuse and                            maltreatment

Code 5.   Nutrition and health needs of infants and children

Code 6.   Business record maintenance and management

Code 7.   Child day care program development

Code 8.   Statutes and regulations pertaining to child abuse and maltreatment

Code 9.   Education and information on the identification, diagnosis and prevention of                       shaken baby syndrome
